Lady Gaga appears in post-sex selfie on cover of V Magazine - after ‘making love on a canvas for peace’

Most post-coital selfies are confined to a person’s phone or personal computer, (hopefully) never to be seen by anyone but the couple who took it – not splashed across the cover of a major fashion magazine.

But the post-sex selfie now gracing the cover of V Magazine doesn't belong to most people. It belongs to Lady Gaga.

The singer has taken a more abstract approach to considering the issue of peace and how it could be achieved after such a turbulent year, combining sex and art for the cover of the February issue.

In it, Gaga appears naked and covered in paint with her partner Taylor Kinney, who is taking the picture.

“We made love on a canvas for peace,” Gaga, who is V’s guest editor this month, announced on Twitter after sharing the image.

Their act fulfills Kinney’s dream of having sex on a canvas, according to her ‘Adult Finger Painting’ editor’s letter.

“Since we first met, Taylor's been drawing and painting all over me,“ she writes. ”Years ago, when we were secretly living in San Diego and crashing on the floor of a beach shack, we never wore shoes. He told me he wanted to make love to me on a canvas.

“We made love on the canvas on a Sunday in Chicago. We made love amidst chaos. We talked about shootings. We made love amidst terrorism. And we talked about how people’s hearts are also suffering all over the world as they watch and witness a swell of violence. We made love amidst violence.”

The image is one of 16 covers shot by photographers and collaborators such as James Franco for the February issue.

All of the proceeds of the cover will be donated to the Born This Way Foundation established by Gaga and her mother, which aims to support and empower young people.
