Lynda Bellingham, the 66-year-old actress and TV star famed for her role as the OXO mum, made the brave decision to reveal that she has stopped chemotherapy treatment for her terminal bowel cancer, giving her just months to live, this weekend.
Now, her husband Michael Pattemore has spoken for the first time about his hopes for the finite rest of her life, and his one last wish – to spend a last Christmas with her.
"The past 10 years with Lynda have been the best of my life," he told Your magazine.
"She's so funny when she’s telling her jokes and so genuinely kind, not to mention so talented.
"And she’s probably one of the most loving mothers I've ever seen."
On how he plans to carry on after her inevitable passing, he said: "I am the most positive-thinking guy in the world.
"Unfortunately it doesn't matter how positive I am on this one, the Good Lord is going to take her. "End of. It's scary and it’s going to create the biggest hole in my life.
"I just don't know what the next few weeks will bring or how I'm going to cope.
"The only thing that’s giving me comfort is that Lynda is very much at peace with everything – we've managed to sort everything out.
"I just pray to God she gets to see Christmas Day again. It’s what she wants."
Meanwhile, Bellingham emailed in a message of thanks to her fans via the Loose Women panel on ITV yesterday, of which she was once a member.
It read: "Hi all you gorgeous ladies, speaking to you from my lovely chemo chair, sucking up the drugs.
"Thank you, thank you so much for the support. But please understand I am in a good place.
"Grasp it all, don’t be afraid, enjoy the bits you can and tell your family you love them while you have the chance.
"Again thank you for all the years of support you have given me. You are the Loose Women and we are the best."Reuse content
