Mick Jagger has become a great grandfather for the first time at the age of 70.

His 21-year-old granddaughter, Assisi, has given birth to a baby girl. Assisi is the daughter of Jade Jagger, who is currently pregnant with her third child.

The two celebrated their respective, impending family additions with a joint baby shower in March.

The Rolling Stones frontman is yet to comment on his latest title, which will arguably make him the world’s most sprightly, energetic and flamboyant great grandfather in recent history.

Pictures of Assisi’s daughter are closely guarded at present, as she’s reportedly signed a deal with a society magazine for a photoshoot. She lives in Cornwall with her 25-year-old chef boyfriend, Alex Key.

“The women in our family just tend to have children young, it runs in the genes,” Assisi said in a recent interview.

“I grew up quite quickly and wouldn't have considered having a child if I was doing what my friends are doing at this stage, messing around. I don't drink, I don't smoke and I'm very settled.”

Jagger – who is father to seven children with four women – has four grandchildren.

He is currently preparing to do his first gig since the death of his long-term partner, designer L’Wren Scott, who took her own life on 17 March. The band cancelled their Australian tour following the news.

The Stones’ first performance will take place in Norway on 26 May.
