Alex Turner: Arctic Monkeys frontman is NOT dead

Fans of the Arctic Monkeys were left outraged after the hashtag #RIPAlexTurner started trending on Twitter.

Alex Turner has become the latest victim of an internet death hoax.

Fans of the Arctic Monkeys were left outraged after the hashtag #RIPAlexTurner started trending on Twitter.

While it remains unclear exactly how the rumours began to circulate, the topic quickly shot into the top ten most discussed on the social media platform in the UK.

“Losing all faith in the world because #RIPAlexTurner really?!,” one fan wrote.

Another posted: “Twitter tried killing off Justin Bieber - fine. But do not, I repeat, DO NOT attempt to do the same thing with Alex turner. #RIPAlexTurner?!”

“#RIPAlexTurner you're with Nelson now,” also surfaced as a popular reference.

Although representatives of Alex Turner are yet to confirm to the Independent.co.uk, reports indicate that the rumours are untrue.

Arctic Monkeys unveiled a brand new B-side, “You’re So Dark”, last week.

The track will feature on the 7” single release of One For The Road, which is set to come out on 10 December 2013. It’s taken from their critically acclaimed LP, AM, which was recently named NME’s Album Of 2013.

The band were recently revealed to be headlining T In The Park festival in 2014. Arctic Monkeys are also set to play two large-scale outdoor shows in Finsbury Park, London. They will be supported by Tame Impala, Miles Kane and Royal Blood.
