Actor Alan Davies' has become a father for the first time, he said today.
The Jonathan Creek star announced on his Twitter feed that his wife, Kate Maskell, gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
Davies, 43, said: "Thanks everyone, mother and baby doing well. I have changed nappies already. My daughter, I notice, is praised for passing wind, unlike her dad."
The football fan later joked he was contemplating his 'daughter's prospects of playing for Arsenal Ladies'.
And Davies received an early message of congratulations through Twitter from his QI colleague Stephen Fry.
"Yay! alandavies1 is a proud papa," it said. "A girl cub. Little Susie. I'm already knitting bootees. But not pink."
