Actor Ford Kiernan’s 12-year-old son Sonny has been found dead.
Police confirmed that they were called to the family’s home in the west end of Glasgow at around 11.30pm on Monday, following a report that Sonny Kiernan had died.
The boy’s death is being treated as “unexplained” and inquiries continue.
A spokeswoman from Police Scotland said a post-mortem examination will be carried out to “establish the exact cause of death.”
Still Game actor Ford Kiernan, 51, lives with his wife Lesly, 44, and their 15-year-old child Kaye in Glasgow.
Sonny is said to be the youngest of the two children.
According to the Telegraph, the family lived in a large Victorian mansion in the Kelvinside area, where Sonny went to school.
Kelvinside Academy issued a statement following his death, saying: "Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies go to Mr and Mrs Kiernan and Kaye for their tragic loss.
"Sonny was a lively, outgoing pupil with a warm smile and a great sense of humour. He made a whole-hearted contribution to the school community, bringing infectious enthusiasm to lessons and activities."
It continued: "We shall always remember him as a cheerful boy who brightened our lives."
The elder Mr Kiernan and his comedy partner Greg Hemphill both appear in the popular BBC Scotland programmes Still Game and Chewin’ The Fat.
Plans are in place to revive their characters Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade for a run of live stage shows of Still Game at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow this autumn.
The show has not been on television since a Hogmanay special in January 2008.
