Classical pianist Van Cliburn dies

The renowned classical pianist and National Medal of Arts winner, Van Cliburn, has died aged 78. His publicist and friend Mary Lou Falcone said he had died at home in Fort Worth, Texas.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Cliburn began taking piano lessons aged three. He had performed for every US President since Harry Truman and was described by Barack Obama as "one of the greatest pianists in the history of music" in 2010.
