TV funnyman David Walliams has revealed he has tried to kill himself several times during his life-long battle with depression.

The Little Britain star said he made the first attempt when he was 12.

Writing in his autobiography, Camp David, he revealed he tried to hang himself the first time after he was bullied during a Sea Scouts camp.

He took an overdose when he was 19, tried to hang himself again in 2003 and cut his throat and wrists with a kitchen knife in the same year.

In a diary entry at the time, he wrote: "Earlier I had come close to stepping in front of a train. I am in total despair."

His book also reveals he spent time in The Priory being treated for depression.
