Designer Pearl Lowe has suffered a miscarriage, a statement issued on her behalf said today.
Lowe, who is married to Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey, had announced she was pregnant with her fifth child last month.
She said previously that the baby was due to be born this autumn.
The statement said: "Danny Goffey has announced today that his wife Pearl Lowe has suffered a miscarriage.
"The couple have asked to respect their privacy at this difficult time."
Lowe's agent declined to give any more information other than the statement.
In an interview with Hello! magazine last month announcing the pregnancy, Lowe said: "Danny and I are over the moon."
She said that her model daughter Daisy Lowe, 21, whose father is Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, had also been very pleased to hear the news of her pregnancy.
The couple's other children are Alfie, 13, Frankie, 10 and Betty, 4.
