Is James Corden  plotting a new direction? Last week the actor, fresh from wowing Broadway with One Man, Two Guvnors did a stand-up turn at Cardiff’s Glee Club.

Corden is currently filming the Paul Potts biopic, One Chance in Port Talbot, and called up the club to ask if he could do 10 minutes at their mixed-bill night alongside headliner Charlie Baker and  little-known comedians Dominic Frisby, Christian Steel and Steve Gribbin.

“It was a very accomplished 10-minute spot”, I’m told. “He was very conscious of not breaking comedy etiquette and didn’t hog the stage.”

As for his act? “It’s still early days but he’s clearly looking to transfer his skills to a new audience.” Corden’s erstwhile sketch partner Mathew Horne also hinted recently that the pair might reunite with a live stage show. Watch this space.
