John Bishop splashes £1,000 on free drinks after he arrives late to gig
Comedian spent close to £1,000 after he insisted on buying everyone a drink for his tardiness
Comedian John Bishop apologised to fans after he showed up late to a show by splashing almost £1,000 on free drinks.
Earlier, the entertainer had tweeted he was stuck in traffic on his way to the Royal & Derngate Theatre in Northampton and would be "about 30 minutes late".
Staff at the venue told The Daily Mirror he bought a drink for everyone and spent close to £1,000, telling the newspaper:"(It's) never happened before. John's an all-around nice guy."
Bishop later tweeted: "Thank you to all who came to Northampton gig. I apologise for my tardiness but hope you all enjoy the drink on me- cheers :)
Reacting to his apology, an audience member posted a photograph of her free drink with the caption: "Cheers John a Bishop, late comer, comedian and man with too much money clearly".

The stunt comes just months after fellow comedian Jason Manford spent more than £3,000 on free drinks for a 800-strong crowed after he showed up 40 minutes to a Lincoln gig in March. Manford then tweeted a photograph on the huge bill on Twitter.
