Jorn Tromolto, I mean John Travolta, has broken his silence over his introduction of the non-existent Adele Dazeem at the 2014 Oscars, joking that people need to do as Idina Menzel instructed in her song and 'let it go'.

The actor has come in for much online ribbing over the past couple of days, after spectacularly mispronouncing Menzel's name ahead of her performance of the Oscar-winning Frozen track.

Travolta has now issued a statement, saying: "I've been beating myself up all day. Then I thought, 'What would Idina Menzel say?' She'd say, 'Let it go, let it go!

"Idina is incredibly talented," he continued. "And I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night."

The Pulp Fiction star originally introduced her as "the talented, the one and only, Adele Dazeem,", spawning parody Twitter accounts and even an 'Adele Dazeem Name Generator', turning Jared Leto into 'Jed Lopeez' and Matthew McConaughey into 'Michael Mozaleen'.

'Let It Go' won Best Original Song at the 86th Academy Awards, while Frozen scooped Best Animated Film.
