Kate O’Mara dead: Late Dynasty and Doctor Who star draws warm Twitter tributes
Fans and star alike tweeted about the actress on the social media site
Twitter tributes have poured in thick and fast for the late Dynasty and Doctor Who actress Kate O'Mara, who has died at the age of 74.
Her agent Phil Belfield said that she had passed away at a nursing home in Sussex after suffering from a short illness.
The star was best known for her role as the calculating Cassandra "Caress" Morrell, the sister of Joan Collins’ character Alexis Colby, on American primetime soap Dynasty.
Collins’ lead the tributes on the social media site, saying: “Tragic news about Kate O Mara , we had great fun on Dynasty when she played my sister Caress who Alexis insisted on calling CASSIE ! RIP”

Show all 9O’Mara was also famous for her role as The Rani, a rebel Time Lady on Doctor Who. Her character forced the Doctor, played by Colin Baker, to regenerate into the seven incarnation of the Time Lord.
She last played the Rani in a special episode called Dimensions in Space back in 1993 and recently said that she would love to reprise the role on the show.
Baker paid homage to the actress, “Oh my goodness. Kate O'Mara is no longer with us. Sad sad news. A delightful, committed and talented lady and actress. We are the poorer”.
While Bonnie Langford, who starred as companion Mel Bush tweeted “So sad to hear that the wonderful Kate O'Mara has gone. Treasured memories xxx.”
O’Mara also won new fans after starring as Pasty’s sister Jackie on Absolutely Fabulous and ITV soap Benidorm.
She is survived by her sister, the actress Belinda Carroll.
A private funeral and memorial service will be held at a later date not yet confirmed.
