Katy Perry and John Mayer reveal first portrait
The on-off pop couple make like a modern day Johnny Cash and June Carter on the cover of "Who You Love"
Katy Perry and John Mayer make like a modern day June Carter and Johnny Cash (visually, at least) as they pose together for the first time for the cover of their latest single, “Who You Love”.
The on-off couple can be seen languishing around a velvet sofa as Mayer strums an acoustic guitar in the black and white portrait, shot by photographer Mario Sorrenti.
Mayer tweeted his adoration of the entire package – song, cover, partner – on Tuesday, posting: “Who You Love is here. Proud of this song, proud of this artwork, proud of this girl. – JM[sic]”
And the gushing hasn’t been confined to social media alone. The lyrics of the song include: “My girl she ain't the one that I saw coming/Sometimes I don't know which way to go/And I try to run before but I'm not running anymore/Because I fought against it hard enough to know.”
According to Mayer, Perry wrote the lyrics to her part of the song herself.
The track, out now, is the latest cut to be taken from Mayer’s sixth studio album, Paradise Valley .
