Model and actress Kelly Brook has lost the baby she was expecting with boyfriend Thom Evans.

The star is understood to be recovering at home after the tragedy which happened last week.

Brook, 31, has requested privacy as she comes to terms with the loss.

Her spokesman Jonathan Hackford said tonight: "Kelly Brook and Thom Evans have sadly lost their baby.

"They request that everyone please respect their privacy at this very painful time and there will be no further comment."

Brook took many by surprise when she announced her pregnancy on Twitter in March, just months after meeting former Scottish rugby star Evans.

In a recent interview she told how the baby was not planned but she knew that her boyfriend was "the one".

The star - who had been expecting a girl - had said: "This baby is not the result of me suddenly becoming broody because I have hit my 30s. It is simply that I have met someone that I am happy to share that responsibility with."

The couple, who were pictured together with Brook in a swimsuit to accompany the interview in Hello! magazine, have been inseparable since they met in November.

They met at a nightclub in London and quickly became an item.

"We have spent virtually every day together ever since," she said in the interview.

Brook had previously dated actors Jason Statham and Billy Zane, and a two-year relationship with another rugby star, Danny Cipriani, ended last summer.

She rose to fame as a magazine favourite before landing a presenting role on Channel 4's Big Breakfast.

Brook later went on to land a number of stage roles, including hit show Calendar Girls. She has also featured in films such as School For Seduction and last year's Piranha 3-D.
