Mark Ronson confused by Amy Winehouse Twitter rant

Producer and musician Mark Ronson said he was "confused" by an Amy Winehouse internet rant in which she accused him of cashing in on her success.

The singer posted a message on her Twitter account in which she wrote "Ronson you're dead to me" and suggested he had tried to take "half the credit" for her Back To Black album.

But he said he had always been open and upfront about the effect working with her has had on his career.

BAD BOY DAY

Actor Darren Day has joined the cast of Hollyoaks - as a new bad boy.

The West End star, who acquired a reputation as a "love rat" after dating actresses such as Anna Friel, Tracy Shaw and Suzanne Shaw, will join the Channel 4 show next month.

Day, who has also been a contestant on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, is to play Danny Houston, the best friend of nasty Brendan Brady played by Emmett J Scanlan.

KENNEDY HITS BACK

Presenter Sarah Kennedy has hit back at rumours that her departure from BBC Radio 2 was due to a drinking problem, insisting she was always "stone cold sober" on air.

The BBC announced Kennedy was leaving the station earlier this month after more than 20 years of "sterling service". But Kennedy, who hosted the early morning Dawn Patrol show for 17 years, spoke out after senior BBC radio sources told the Daily Telegraph she was forced out of the station over concerns about her drinking.

She told the newspaper: "I have never, never, never in my life gone into the BBC other than being stone cold sober."

SHAW 'TYPECAST'

Actor Martin Shaw said he was repeatedly cast as a policeman - because TV bosses shied away from taking risks.

The 65-year-old star, who found fame in the 1970s with a crime-busting role in The Professionals, told the Radio Times that he got a thrill from playing men on the wrong side of the law.

But the Judge John Deed actor, who plays old-school Detective Inspector George Gently in the long-running BBC series, said it had become easier for TV executives to keep casting him as policemen.

PRESSURE COOK

Parents are under too much pressure to behave like children's TV presenters in the kitchen, domestic goddess Nigella Lawson said.

The 50-year-old TV cook told the Radio Times that when she was taught to cook by her mother and grandmother their culinary efforts were seen as a chore - but it did not stop her learning the ropes.

Today's parents, she suggested, mistakenly believed they had to make cooking "all fun and recreational".

ACTOR DRUGS PLEA

Former Hollyoaks star Paul Danan has pleaded guilty to drugs and public order offences after being caught with cocaine and cannabis.

The 32-year-old was arrested two days in a row last month after being found wandering around a street in Royston, Hertfordshire, in a drunken state.

At Stevenage Magistrates' Court he admitted cannabis possession, cocaine possession and a public order offence for swearing at police officers. He was fined a total of £350 and referred to a drugs agency for support.
