Noel Gallagher on Russell Brand: 'I think he should stand in the election'
Former Oasis singer says would require a reward similar to ‘Duke of Manchester’ for his support
Noel Gallagher, the man who has accused Paul McCartney of producing nothing but “manure” for the past 25 years, who said Jack White looked like “Zorro on doughnuts,” and who has claimed not to love his brother Liam as much as Pot Noodles, has decided that Russell Brand should stand in the next election.
Speaking to XFM, the High Flying Birds frontman said: “He’s a good lad, Russell, and I love him dearly like a boyfriend.
He said: “I think he should stand in the next election, because it’s alright saying the words and all, but then you’re relying on other people to implement all this stuff you’re going on about.”
In Quotes: Russell Brand's revolution
Show all 8Gallagher said Brand had his heart “in the right place,” but added that he thought the comedian’s revolutionary ideals could be “as short-lived as his acting career”.
Gallagher also outlined his conditions for Brand to receive his vote: “I said, ‘Look, if you make me the Duke of Manchester, or the Minister for Music, I’ll back you’,” he added.
It is not the first time Gallagher has requested the ‘Duke of Manchester’ title from his friend.
Earlier this month, the former Oasis frontman said that he would back Brand’s proposed revolution if he was given the peerage.
In the same interview, the musician said that he loved Brand but added: “He does talk a load of s**t. I couldn’t see him overthrowing a table of drinks.”
