Chris Hallam MBE, one of the pioneers of disabled sport, has died. The Welshman won medals for swimming and wheelchair racing in the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Paralympic Games.

Hallam twice won the London Marathon, setting course records. The wheelchair racer was already a good swimmer before he was paralysed below the chest after a motorcycling accident, and went on to win the 50m breaststroke at the World Disabled Games.
