He attended one of the country’s most prestigious schools, but it seems Spencer Matthews' Eton education has been wasted on him.

The Made in Chelsea reality TV star has revealed he has only ever read three books in his life.

But those thinking the well-brought-up Matthews may have dabbled in a bit of Oscar Wilde before moving onto the Jane Austen classics will be in for a bit of a shock.

The 25-year-old said he has only ever read books from children’s fiction series, and – much like his relationships with women- lacked commitment in following through with them.

Speaking at the launch for co-star Binky’s new book, he said: “I’ve only ever read three books in my life. Harry Potter one, a Philip Pullman and Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events.”

Not forgetting to plug himself, he added: “Actually I’ve read four. Confessions of a Chelsea Boy”, referring to his own memoir published last year.

“And unlike Binky’s book - which has been ghost-written – I wrote it all myself, 288 pages,” he said.
