Rick Perry, former Texas governor and Republican presidential hopeful for 2016, has launched his campaign with a dubious remix of a rap country song.

Mr Perry announced his candidacy with a half hour speech, which concluded with an adapted version of the Colt Ford and JJ Lawhorn's rap country hit 'Answer to No One'.

The adapted lyrics start with "Rick Perry supporter, let's protect our border, to hell with anyone who don't believe in the USA, Rick Perry all the way."

The second verse begins with the rhymes: "Give me my right to vote, my right to tote , the weapon of my choice, don’t censor my voice."

In the speech, Mr Perry declared he "led the most successful state in America" and pointed out his military experience, in a hope to distinguish himself from other Republican candidates.

Mr Perry served five years in the US air force and was surrounded by military veterans as he announced his candidacy, including Navy SEALs, Marcus Luttrell, who Perry called a "second son", and Taya Kyle, the widow of 'American Sniper', Chris Kyle.
