Solange, Beyoncé and Jay Z might have issued a statement deflecting ‘that’ Met Gala lift incident, but speculation over what caused Solange to lash out at her sister’s husband remains rife.

Latest reports suggest that US fashion designer Rachel Roy was implicated in the argument, which leaked online as CCTV video footage from a Standard Hotel employee.

Shocking video sees Solange kick Jay Z

Earlier this week it emerged that Solange had been seen in heated conversation with Roy, who is the ex-wife of Jay Z’s Roc-a-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash.

Now, The New York Daily News has reported that Solange was angered by Roy for getting “too close for comfort” to Beyoncé’s rapper spouse.

“Solange doesn’t like it and Beyoncé doesn’t like it,” a source told the newspaper.

Once the trio entered the lift, Solange is said to have become enraged when Jay Z told her she was “out of line” to confront Roy at the party.

When Jay Z then said he was planning to go on to Rihanna’s second after-party where Roy would be, without his wife, Solange lost her temper, reports claim.

The New York hotel involved has fired the person who sold the footage to TMZ for $250,000. The employee was sacked for “breaching the security polices of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video”.

As the tape does not contain audio, fans have been left in the dark about what was actually said in the lift.

Solange, Beyoncé and Jay Z were, however, quick to deny reports of “Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behaviour throughout the evening”.

“At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different,” the statement read. “We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

Beyoncé also posted a string of photos showing her with Solange on her Instagram account.
