Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle was mobbed as she headed to Los Angeles to make her US debut for a high-profile TV appearance.

It was not quite Beatlemania but more than 1,000 fans were waiting at LAX Airport as the plane touched down.

Boyle is in the city to appear on the final of America's Got Talent on Wednesday, for which she will perform the Rolling Stones track Wild Horses.

The singer became an unlikely star after she appeared on BGT earlier this year and was runner-up in the final.

She has also announced details of her debut album which will be named after the track which propelled her to fame after she sang it on TV, I Dreamed a Dream.

The album will be released on November 23.
