It’s back, bigger and better than before: The Pink List, The Independent on Sunday’s annual celebration of the gay and lesbian community. Judges, including former Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw, broadcaster Clare Balding, Stonewall chief executive Ben Summerskill, and John Amaechi, the ex-basketball star, fought long and hard to decide on the 101 most influential gay and lesbian in Britain today. We also include new categories: foreign nationals based in Britain; national treasures; and those we thought of featuring but, for often rather waspish reasons, decided against. The aim? To entertain and celebrate, infuriate and amuse. Above all, to kick-start a heated debate around Sunday breakfast and lunch-tables. The Pink List: only in The Independent on Sunday this Sunday 1 August.
