As Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s son is welcomed into the world it seems that everyone is asking the same question: “Kai?really?” It's an unusual name choice but certainly not the worst in the world of celebrity baby names. At least it’s not Dwayne.

Celebrities are renowned for suffering from a serious lapse of judgement when choosing names for their children. Maybe a few screws fall loose during the birth. Whatever the reason, strange baby names are a stubborn part of celebrity culture. Ranging from items of fruit to tongue twisters, names that rhyme and those that simply baffle, names that belong in a Disney film and appear far removed from the real world, celebrities have got it covered.

When Gwenyth Paltrow named her daughter 'Apple' in 2003 she defended her decision explaining that "It sounded so sweet and it conjured such a lovely picture for me – you know, apples are so sweet and they're wholesome and it's biblical – and I just thought it sounded so lovely and... clean! And I just thought, 'Perfect!'" You can't argue with that reasoning.

In celebration of Rooney junior's arrival, we pick the names that stand out in the celebrity baby world he's joined.

It's a flower. I don't see the problem with Suri or Beau either. They both seem the right combination of unusual and sensible to me.

I wonder what Zappa's kids call themselves nowadays.

Yeah, they fixed it, it was a more embarrassing name than a flower before...

I think Moon Unit just calls herself Moon these days.
Duh!
