Obituary: General James Alward Van Fleet
General James Alward Van Fleet, died Polk City Florida 23 September, aged 100. Led combat campaigns at Utah Beach on D-Day and at the Battle of the Bulge. Played key roles in the Greek civil war, driving Communist guerrillas from Greece, and the Korean war, chasing the Chinese Communists from South Korea back to the 38th parallel - the turning-point in the Korean conflict.
