Obituary: Lores Bonney

Lores Bonney, aviator, died near Brisbane 24 February, aged 96. The first woman to fly solo from Australia to England, in 1933, in a single- engined aircraft without the help of a radio, surviving a crash-landing in Malaysia. Also flew solo from Australia to South Africa and was the first woman to circumnavigate Australia by air. Awarded the Order of Australia in 1991.
