Obituary: Lt-Gen Sir William Pike
Lt-Gen Sir William Pike, died 10 March, aged 87. Vice-Chief of the Imperial General Staff in 1960-63, a critical period in withdrawal from Empire. Involved in intervention in Kuwait in 1961, the Brunei rebellion, conflict in the Aden Protectorate and the stand-off with Indonesia in 1962- 63. Director of Staff Duties at the War Office during the Suez Crisis of 1956.
