Obituary: Professor Ronald Fletcher
Originally from the West Country, Jack Hurley is a Leeds-based writer and former mental health professional whose perhaps unhealthy obsessions with the BBC's Question Time has helped him carve a niche in the blogosphere (http://questionabletime.com/). When not engaged in Photoshopping the same picture of David Dimbleby into progressively more farcical scenarios, Hurley can be found playing guitar in “Leeds' most random looking band”.
Friday 10 July 1992
His direct and honest approach to sociology and to other disciplines won him a wide spectrum of friends outside the claustrophobic world of academic sociology - but alas to his disadvantage within it. His weekly political journalism revealed him to be a wise man of independent, sound and considerable political insight, and his local history films for Anglia Television, in which he was often the narrator, bequeath us a self-portrait of an unpretentious and very lovable Englishman.
