Obituary: The Marquess of Bath
IT IS sad that Hugo Vickers's otherwise splendid obituary (1 July) of my father-in-law the sixth Marquess of Bath was marred by ill-informed comment on my late husband Valentine's death, writes Lady Valentine Thynne.
He did not die 'attached to an oak beam in the lounge bar of the Bath Arms'. He died in the sitting-room of his cottage; a former cattle byre.
