Obituary: Vittorio Mezzogiorno
Vittorio Mezzogiorno, actor, died Milan 7 January, aged 52. Played a professor accused of rape in the film Condanna ('Convicted', 1990), and appeared in Werner Herzog's Shouts from Stone (1991). Best known in Italy as a police official in the television serial Piovra ('Octopus'). Also appeared in a wide range of films and theatre productions in Europe. On stage, he played the role of a monk in Peter Brook's Mahabharata.
