W. Lincoln Hawkins, scientist, died 20 August San Marcos California, aged 81. Co-inventor of anti-oxidizing agents which increased the durability of plastic coating - a development which led to the expansion of telephone networks around the world. First chairman of the American Chemical Society's project to promote chemistry among black students.
