Anna-Jane Casey, 35, has been headlining in the West End for more than a decade, starring in 'Chicago', 'Sweet Charity' and 'Sunday in the Park'. She will appear this Sunday in 'Christmas in New York' at the Lyric Theatre, Covent Garden

A common misperception of me is...

Well, it feels odd when people call me "the West End's leading lady".

I wish people would take more notice of...

Recycling. It's so important. My husband and I are trying to save the planet single-handedly at the moment. I also wish people would stop being so precious. People in musical theatre often are.

A phrase I use far too often...

I say "absolutely" and "wicked" far too much. I'm sure they're outdated. It's very embarrassing.

The most surprising thing that happened to me was...

When I had a little girl. I didn't realise you had to push so hard. I mean, they say you have to push but I didn't realiseit was that hard.

I'm good at...

Talking.

I'm very bad at...

Letting go. I'm a real control freak.

The ideal night out is...

A nice meal, the cinema and then going home, having loads of mates around and getting slowly drunk.

You know me as an actress but in truer life I'd have...

Gone over to Africa and worked in a safari park saving animals.

The best age to be is...

Thirty. I had such a brilliant party on my 30th.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:

Live well, laugh often, and love much.
