The 5-Minute Interview: Siobhan Donaghy, Singer

'It was a terrible experience to be sued when I was only 17'

Discovered a decade ago when she was 12 years old and spending four years with the Sugababes, Donaghy became a solo artist in her own right in 2003. Her new album 'Ghosts' is released on 25 June

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...

En route to the next radio station, as I'm playing acoustic sets on radio shows up and down the country.

I wish people would take more notice of...

Other people. Where I grew up in north-west London there wasn't much sense of community but when I used to go to my dad's home near Omagh in Northern Ireland I'd be surrounded by dozens of cousins all the time.

The most surprising thing that happened to me was...

Being sued when I switched management companies at the age of 17. It was a terrible experience and I think it's immoral to put that pressure on someone so young.

A common misperception of me is...

That I left the Sugababes by going to the toilet and never coming back. There is absolutely no truth in that story; it was invented.

I am not a politician but...

I feel second-home owners should be taxed more.

I'm good at...

Giving 100 per cent at everything I do.

I'm very bad at...

Standing still.

The ideal night out is...

Drinking a pint of imported Guinness at Filthy Macnasty's in north London.

In moments of weakness I...

Book a holiday.

You know me as a singer but I may also have been...

A landscape photographer.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:

If all we do and say is genuine and honest then we will be surrounded by positivity.
