The Princess of Wales, Patron, Turning Point, attends a briefing at the Home Office, Queen Anne's Gate, London SW1. The Princess Royal, Patron, the Butler Trust, visits YOI Castington, Morpeth, Northumberland; as Patron, Sense, the National Deaf-Blind and Rubella Association, opens the Deaf-Blind Centre, Northern Counties School for the Deaf, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear; as President, Save the Children Fund, visits the Pennywell Neighbourhood Centre, Sunderland; and later, as President, Scottish Chambers of Commerce, attends the Inaugural Dinner of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce at the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh. Princess Margaret, President, the Girl Guides Association, gives a Reception at Kensington Palace for Queen's Guides. The Duke of Gloucester presents the Awards for the Painting and Decorating Trophy Competition at a luncheon at Painter's Hall, London EC4. Princess Alexandra opens the new surgical block of Benenden Hospital for the Post Office and Civil Service Sanatorium Society at Benenden, Kent. Prince Michael of Kent, President of the Kennel Club, attends the 34th National Champion Police Dog Trials at the Peel Centre, Hendon.
