Samuel L Jackson on why the Brangelina furore has gone too far: 'It’s life!'

From the Dalai Lama to Adele and now Samuel L Jackson, it seems everyone wants to have their say on the demise of Brangelina.

However, unlike others, Jackson has said the fixation with the private affairs of Hollywood's golden couple has gone too far.

Talking on Good Morning Britain, Jackson shrugged his shoulders and laughed when asked if the news Jolie was filing for divorce from Pitt was sad.

The actor suggested the American public had become too closely involved with the Jolie and Pitt's life and argued there were great swathes of the US who are still hung up about Pitt getting divorced from Aniston.

When probed about whether the news of Jolie and Pitt's divorce was sad, he replied: “Is it? Really? It’s life! People carry on and people do what they do.”

"There's a huge segment of America that still think what he did to Jennifer Aniston was just wrong and are overjoyed that the wicked witch lost her husband,” he added.

“There's another segment that think it is sad and there's a dissolution of another family. I don’t know why it's everybody's business, or why people care anyway.”

Jolie's lawyer announced the actress had filed for divorce from Pitt on Tuesday. The pair officially got together in 2006 after appearing on Mr and Mrs Smith together and then tied the knot at Chateau Miraval in the French village of Correns in 2014.

Jolie requested physical custody and joint legal custody of their six children and asked for Pitt to be granted visitation rights. ​TMZ, which claims to have viewed a legal filing, said Jolie “was extremely upset” by Pitt's parenting methods. The pair have six children together - Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, who are adopted, and biological children Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne who are eight.
