At Christmas, we remember not only the ‘real life’ Messiah, but also mere mortals with a vain hankering to be one.

We’re talking of those who believe that they might a saviour of some kind; those suffering from grandiose illusions who believe themselves to be infallibly correct; and also those who refuse to admit the possibility of their error or failure – even when facts dictate otherwise.

And over the past 12 months, there have been many examples of high-profile individuals that imbue this unfortunate condition. Some have attempted to spearhead revolution; others have argued nonsensical, often offensive views until everyone grew tired talking about the; while another launched a foul-mouthed tirade at an unassuming taxi driver.
