This article has been carefully crafted for two reasons.

The first is that it is our firm belief that one can never read enough about U2 making utter twerps of themselves in public.

The second is it’s an excuse to write ‘Watch The Edge fall over the edge’ and not feel like someone’s Dad reading a joke from an out-of-date Christmas cracker. Because it isn’t a joke. It actually happened.

The guitarist misplaced his footing during the band’s show in Toronto as part of their Innocence and Experience tour.

Fans will be pleased to hear, however, that he was not injured. The rest will be doubly pleased to learn that there is video evidence of the incident taking place:

The footage comes as Bono defended the band against claims U2 had shielded millions in overseas tax havens.

Speaking to Sky News, he said: “It is just some smart people we have working for us trying to be sensible about the way we are taxed.

“We pay a fortune in tax, a fortune, just so people know, and we're happy to pay a fortune in tax.

“Because you're good at philanthropy and because I am an activist people think you should be stupid in business and I don't run with that.”
