Sir Peter James Spicer, of Fishbourne, West Sussex, former assistant secretary to the delegates, Oxford University Press, left estate valued at pounds 263,093 net. He left pounds 5,000 to his trustees to distribute among such charitable institutions or individual persons as they select.

Mr Peter Andrew Tranchell, of Curdridge, Hampshire, Fellow and Director of Music at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge 1960-89, left estate valued at pounds 253,868 net. After personal bequests of pounds 22,500 and some effects, he left all his writings, papers, musical manuscripts and music written by him first to be offered to the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and then to the Library of Cambridge University, and his printed books and books of printed music and one-third of the residue to Clifton College, Bristol, one- third of the residue to the Dragon School, Oxford, and one-third of the residue to be distributed by his executors as they see fit.

Mrs Tamara Talbot Rice, the art historian, of Fossebridge, Gloucestershire, left estate valued at pounds 181,196 net.

Mr Israel Raine, of London NW3, left estate valued at pounds 4,626,624 net.

Joyce Edith, Lady Broackes, of London SW3, wife of Sir Nigel Broackes, former chairman of Trafalgar House plc, left estate valued at pounds 5,284,692 net.

Mr Dennis Archer, of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, left estate valued at pounds 1,573,491 net.

Mr Anthony John Cheeseman, of Parkgate, Cheshire, left estate valued at pounds 1,709,038 net.

Mrs Barbara Hall Gough, of London SW11, left estate valued at pounds 2,792,534 net.

Kathleen Frances Williams, of Bexhill, East Sussex, left estate valued at pounds 772,876 net. After personal bequests of pounds 2,800 and effects, she left the residue equally between the RNLI and PDSA.
