It’s been a rollercoaster few days for famed YouTube vlogger Zoella.

Firstly, she was named the best-selling debut author in history, with first-week sales that outstripped Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown, Harry Potter creator JK Rowling and Fifty Shades scribe EL James.

Then she became embroiled in speculation she’d had Girl Online – her first published work – ghostwritten.

This was followed by a “factually accurate” admission from her publishers that she hadn’t penned the piece “on her own”.

Now, she’s quit the internet entirely:

The 24-year-old YouTube star broke records after shifting 78,109 copies of her book in the first seven days – five times as many as Fifty Shades of Grey sold in its first week.

Her short video blogs, which she has been posting since 2009, garner over 12 million hits each month.

As well as her six million YouTube followers, Zoella also boasts 2.5 million followers on Twitter, too.
