New research reveals that majority of Brits believe most of the country's cities are too dull, with over a third describing them as colourless. Many people feel colour has a positive lift on their mood, whilst over half of the nation think colourful surroundings are especially important during the colder months.

To help celebrate the power of colour, Dulux has launched an initiative called 'Colour Britain', which sees some of the country's most exciting illustrators produce unique pieces of artwork inspired by UK cities. The giant, hand-painted artworks have been dropped into unusual locations across the country, from giant seaside walls to extra large canvasses in city squares. Colour Britain imagery and footage of the illustrations will also be revealed through www.facebook.com/dulux

In addition, Dulux is inviting the public to suggest which village, town or city should receive its own splash of colour, using #ColourBritain on Facebook and Twitter. The most popular will be selected to receive its own unique artwork on 31 October, just after the clocks go back.
