BRITAIN'S CHANGEABLE weather has been blamed for many things but now it seems it has nearly caused a recession.
The Office for National Statistics said yesterday that economic growth for the first quarter of the year was flat because of the mild weather. Warm weather pushed down the demand for electricity and gas and produced a 2 per cent fall in energy extraction which in turn knocked 0.2 per cent off the gross domestic product.
