FORECASTERS were last night warning that the wild weekend weather, which has affected mainly Wales and the South-west, could hit the north of England overnight.

The bill for the damage so far is estimated at pounds 400m, and the storms have caused 12 deaths since last week. The Environment Agency yesterday warned householders to remain alert, as rain expected to sweep Britain later this week could be too much for swollen rivers.
