BAD WEATHER eroded the walls of a waste reservoir near Huelva in southern Spain last week, allowing about 50,000 litres of by- products from a fertiliser factory to spill into surrounding marshland.

Environmentalists immediately drew comparisons with April's spill of 5bn litres of toxic waste from the nearby Aznalcollar mine reservoir that threatened the Donana Park - one of Europe's most renowned nature reserves.
