POLICE investigating the 'House of Death' murders yesterday uncovered what they believe to be human remains in a wheatfield after a fortnight of digging, writes Andrew Gliniecki.

The discovery was made in Letterbox Field in Kempley on the Herefordshire-Gloucestershire border, near Much Marcle, the childhood home of Frederick West, 52, who is accused of murdering nine women.

Police said that Professor Bernard Knight, a Home Office pathologist, will visit the field today.

Mr West, a builder, of 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester - where the remains of the nine have been found - also lived in Much Marcle with his first wife, Catherine Costello. She has not been seen for 22 years.
