Nasa is set to reveal that is has “solved” a “Mars mystery” at a huge Press Conference later.

The event will begin at 4.30pm UK time. But the revelations will begin before then, as details that have been shared with the journal Nature Geoscience will be revealed at 4pm UK time.

Nasa has been very quiet about what it’s actually going to announce — only that it will “detail a major science finding from the agency’s ongoing exploration of Mars”. But papers seem to indicate that it will actually be to do with the discovery of flowing water on Mars.

The press conference will be streamed live. After the full details of the findings are revealed, Nasa experts will take answers from journalists and the public, who can tweet with the hashtag #AskNASA to have their questions read out.

The Independent will also be covering all of the events live, as well as providing analysis and explanation once the big reveal is over.
