GORDON BROWN was yesterday assured that a pounds 2bn microchip plant planned for Scotland by a South Korean electronics giant will be completed despite the Asian economic crisis.

The Chancellor, on a fact-finding tour of Asia, was reassured by executives of the Hyundai company in Seoul about the plant, which is earmarked for Dunfermline and could create up to 1,800 jobs.
