Berti Vogts, the former Germany coach, is to be interviewed on 6 November in Johannesburg for the vacant post of South Africa coach. Vogts will be the sixth candidate to be interviewed and the South African Football Association said a final decision would be taken in the first week of December. Carlos Alberto Parreira, who coached Brazil to World Cup victory in 1994, will also be interviewed on 20 November.

Philippe Anziani, the former French international, was yesterday confirmed as the new coach of Sochaux. Anziani, 37, had taken over on a provisional basis earlier this week after Faruk Hadzibedjic was dismissed. Sochaux are bottom of the French First Division with five points from 10 matches.

Uefa, the European governing body, announced yesterday that Partizan Belgrade will be able to host their Cup-Winners' Cup second round, second leg tie with Lazio on 5 November following the easing of political tensions in Yugoslavia.
