THREE people have been charged in connection with a blaze at a house which left two children fighting for their lives, police said yesterday.

Five-year-old Aqib Ahmed and his four-year-old sister Sadia were seriously ill with severe burns at Birmingham Children's Hospital yesterday. The fire broke out as they slept at their family's home in Washwood Heath, Birmingham.

Detective Inspector Wayne Bernstein of West Midlands Police said two men, aged 20 and 21, had been charged with conspiracy to cause arson with intent to endanger life. An 18-year-old woman from Solihull was charged with aiding and abetting conspiracy to cause arson, he said. All three were due to appear before magistrates in Birmingham today.
