Britain and Spain failed to ease disputes over Gibraltar which threaten Spanish plans for an enhanced military role in Nato.
The Spanish Foreign Minister, Abel Matutes, proposed a resolution by suggesting the two nations share sovereignty of Gibraltar's air and sea ports but the Foreign Secretary, Robin Cook, ruled out any solution that would undermine Gibraltar's status as a British territory. - AP, Luxembourg
