1,000 beds to go in health plan
South Glamorgan health authority in South Wales is to lose more than 1,000 of its 2,358 beds. Six hospitals will close by 1997. Over the next five years, two new neighbourhood hospitals are planned - one in Cardiff, the other in Barry - with about 80 beds each.
